We had great fun on our Enchanted Winter Walk yesterday- make sure you check out the pictures in our 'photos' section! smiley

Homework w/b: Monday 14th December

This week we have been using adjectives (describing words) to describe Father Christmas to help us write a character description.

Look at the image above of Santa’s workshop, how many adjectives can you think of? How many descriptive sentences can you write?

Rising Stars: A new book will be set on Rising Stars every Wednesday. Please also read your class reading book for a minimum of ten minutes every day.

‘Sirlinkalot’ spellings. This term our focus will be on the ‘Great Grimms’ section. The spellings we will be learning to read and spell in class this week are:

The vowels ,as, you and our.

If your child, is confident with reading and spelling the words we are learning this week, please continue to work your way through the rest of the “Great Grimms” Section.

Spelling will be assessed every Friday with Mrs Hilden.

This week in Maths, we have been recapping our learning of place value by counting and ordering numbers to 100.

Place Value Basketball - Dienes Game for 5 to 8 Year Olds ( ( Select your own level of difficulty)

Caterpillar Ordering - An Ordering and Sequencing Game ( (Select 1-99)

Have fun!

If you have any questions please do not hesitate to ask your teachers,

Year 2 Team

Useful Resources:

Reading and Spelling:

Have a go trying to read and spell all of your Year 1 and Year 2 Common Exception words!

Can you practise your number bonds to 20 and then to 100?

Can you recite the 2, 5 and 10 Times Tables?

How many books can you read on our Year 2 Recommended Reading list?

This list (which includes 123 books as well as over 100 different published authors) is intended to be a guide to books suitable for children in Year 2. Some of the texts are more difficult to read than others and care should be taken when choosing those which your child might enjoy. Please discuss the books your child reads with him/her and remember that, even in Year 2, although a book might be difficult for your child to read, he/she will probably still enjoy having it read to them by an adult. Good luck and please enjoy!
