Homework 14th January 2022
In English this week we focused on Reading and Comprehension. We used our skills to predict what our mysterious class story will be about. We have artefacts to help us to guess the events in the story.
In Geography we started to learn about the Arctic. Did you know that a person who lives in the Arctic is called ‘Inuk’, and the group pf people: ‘Inuit’?
In Art our focus this week was designing money! The children loved it – finding it easy to find their own way to personalise their money depending on their interests or heritage. This week we designed our coins, next week we will focus on making it.
Phonics/Spellings – In Phonics we learnt about the grapheme ‘al’ making the sound ‘or’, for example: walk, fall, call. In every spelling/phonics session we are talking about suffixes and learning how to use them. Please practice the following spellings ahead of the spelling check next Friday:
all tall tallest
fall walk falling
call ball called
walking Challenge words: almost, already, although
Continue with reading and please leave a note in the Reading Record commenting on your child’s reading.
There will be Maths quizzes assigned on Diagnostic questions for this week. Please practice counting real money at home (coins and notes if possibleJ). In your yellow book, try to solve following word problems involving addition and subtraction of money – see the sheet on the next page.
