Welcome back
Thank you for your support and help during the start of Year Six. The children have had a great start to the year!
We will be continuing with the curriculum which you can view on the Yearly Overview, on the website, and there is a summary of this term’s learning below. Maths and English will have a high priority as we work towards the 2021 SATS. The key stage 2 tests are timetabled from Monday 10 May to Thursday 13 May 2021. Further information about the SATs tests will be held on closer to these dates
Curriculum
History: Turning Points in British History - Victorians
English: a range of genres, texts and animations will continue to be studied and used as stimuli for both writing and reading. Please discuss with your child on a weekly basis the genre and stimulus we are currently studying and using.
A new scheme has been introduced which we will be following

Maths: We will be following the White Rose Maths Scheme- below is a weekly plan of the topics covered.
Art: Art Illusions
DT: food (celebrating culture and seasonality) and electrical systems.
Computing: Computing skills and e-safety.
‘We are app designers and planners’ unit will be taught as a block in the summer term.
PE: Invasion Game Skills
PSHE /RSE: Relationships and Health and Well-being
RE: Islam and Judaism.
Science: Animals including humans & Evolution and inheritance.
PE kit
Please ensure that your child’s PE kit is worn to school on a Thursday. If your child is unable to do PE, please supply a written note as to the reason why. Please note that on colder days they should wear tracksuit bottoms and a warm top to wear as PE will continue in all weathers! Earrings are to be removed for PE or not worn on PE days if easier. Please ensure all kit is named!
