Nightingale 

 

Who was Florence Nightingale?

Florence Nightingale was born on 12 May 1820 in Florence, Italy, to William and Frances Nightingale.

She was a nurse in the Crimean War and helped soldiers recover from their injuries.

She is best known for founding the modern nursing we have today.

Florence was known as ‘The Lady with the Lamp’ to the soldiers, as she would often visit them to make sure they were comfortable at night.

Jenner 

Who was Edward Jenner?

Edward Jenner who was born May 7th 1749 and was the eighth of nine children born to Stephan Jenner and Sarah Jenner. He became an orphan at the age of five when his parents died and Jenner became an orphan at the age of five. He went to live with his older brother. When he was eight years old, Edward was diagnosed with smallpox.  When Edward had small pox, he said to himself “I shall never have smallpox for I have had cowpox”

King

Martin Luther King, Jr., was a Baptist minister and social rights activist in the United States in the 1950s and ’60s. He was a leader of the American civil rights movement. He organized a number of peaceful protests as head of the Southern Christian Leadership Conference, including the March on Washington in 1963. He won the Nobel Peace Prize in 1964, and, at the time, he was the youngest person to have done so.

Frank 

Who is Anne Frank?

Anne Frank is a Jewish person, she was very brave even though the Nazis captured her. She was born in 12 June 1929 in Frankfurt Germany and died in March 1945. She was famous for her diary which is now a worldwide famous book. The diary of Anne Frank is an important document of the Holocaust and is now the well-known symbol of the persecution of the Jews. She was known for her diary where there was an imaginary friend called kitty and her house is now a museum.
