Swimming

At Stocks Green Primary School, we believe in the importance of teaching children the life skill of swimming.  This also forms part of the National Curriculum for PE and, as such, is statutory for all pupils to attend at some point during their time in the school.  At Stocks Green, we offer two terms of swimming lessons to Year 4.  This takes place at Tonbridge Swimming Pool and the children are transported there by coach.  The school does ask for a voluntary donation to support with the cost.  The children are taught two terms back-to-back as we have seen children make the most progress when taught using this approach.  For those who are unable to swim 25 metres at the end of the blocks of lessons, we offer 6 additional lessons straight afterwards.  If the children have not met the nationally outlined 25 metre distance after these additional sessions, they are offered further sessions when they are in Year 5 and Year 6.  These additional sessions are paid for by the school using the Sports Premium.
