Free School Meals
Did you know that you might be entitled to Free School Meals and that this can greatly impact on the level of support that the school can provide both your child and others in the school? All children in the infant classes (Year R, 1 and 2) are entitled to the government’s Universal Infant Free School meals. However, if you are on a low income or in receipt of certain benefits then applying for Free School Meals in any year group can ensure that your child is entitled to free meals throughout their schooling and also provides the school with additional funding to support their education. This funding is called the Pupil Premium and in 2024 - 2025 equates to £1,480 of additional funding. This can be used to support their education in school or to enable them to access clubs as well as provide parents with financial support for school trips and events. So, even if your child is in Year R, 1or 2, it is still worth applying for Free School Meals.
