World Book Day is on Thursday 1st March, in order to celebrate this children will be asked to bring in their favourite book to share with their class.
In November we had Bookweek, when we had a whole school focus on Roald Dahl. The children saw a performance of the BFG with Anthony Pedley, dressed up as characters from Roald Dahl books and wrote their own versions of Roald Dahl stories. We also had the Travelling Books Bookfair and raised £500 to spend on books for the school.

We are having a Poetry Week beginning on the 19th March, which will link with World Poetry Day on Wednesday 21st March. Children in all classes will be encouraged to learn to recite a poem or rhyme for their homework. They will then perform these in class during the week and the teachers will select some children to perform in the Poetry Recital on Friday 23rd March.

At the Poetry Recital these children perform in front of the whole school. A panel of children including the Head Boy and Head Girl (along with Mrs Rowley) will decide on a 1st, 2nd and 3rd in KS1 and KS2. Prizes will be awarded to the KS1 and KS2 winners.

At Stocks Green we have a library session every Thursday run by parent volunteers. Each year Class 4 write letters of application to become librarians and from this six librarians are appointed. From the start of Year 5 these librarians tidy the library and hear children in Year 1 read once a week.
