Year 4 News

This week has been a wonderful week for Year 4. The children have tried their best to follow our school values and we are seeing improvements in our routines.

This week:

In Maths we are learning how to represent and partition numbers to 10,000

In English we are learning how to add descriptive detail while writing a recount.

In Reading, we are developing fluency and comprehension by exploring The Lion, the Witch and the Wardrobe, using clues from the text to answer inference and extended-response questions.

 In Science, we investigated how different liquids can affect eggshells as a model for tooth enamel and learnt why brushing our teeth is important for preventing tooth decay.

In RE, we have been learning about Hinduism by exploring pooja (prayer) , the objects used during worship and how Hindu families may express their faith at home.

Next week:

In maths we will be learning about ordering, comparing and estimating numbers to 10,000.   

In English we will be learning how to edit and improve our Recount writing.

In Art, we will continue exploring how artists can tell stories through drawing, looking at how characters, settings, colour, line can help us communicate emotions.

Important things to remember:

Please keep practising the Harvest Assembly song at home. It has been lovely to hear the children singing with such enthusiasm in the classroom and they are doing a fantastic job!
