Year 2 News

This week in Year 2 we have had a fantastic start to the new term !

It might seem early but we have started to learn our Christmas nativity songs! The children will continue to learnt these at school over the next few weeks and we will also send out words shortly for you to sing at home :) 

This week

In maths we are looking at addition and subtraction and learning how to add to the next 10. 

In English, we have been learning to write sentences in the present and past tense. 

In Phonics we have been exploring the /oe/ sound and looking at the spellings (oe, o-e and ow)

Next week:

In maths we are learning to add across 10

In English we are learning to improve our sentences by extending them and adding conjunctions. 

In Phonics we will continue to explore the /oe/ sound and looking at even more alternative spellings such as (oa, ou, ough and o)

We will also start our Fire of London topic in History next week- which the children are very excited about!

We have PE on a Monday and Tuesday this term.
